10 Things I’m Grateful For

Gratitude means being thankful, grateful and showing appreciation for the many blessings in your life. Even when life feels like it is working against you there is something to be thankful for.

Life can be overwhelming, we go about our routines not thinking about gratitude. I believe practicing gratitude can change your life, but while going through our daily routine it can be hard to practice. So to celebrate the spirit of Thanksgiving I wanted to share ten things I am thankful for in my life. I am hoping this will help you get into the spirit of gratitude.

1. Family

I am beyond blessed when it comes to my family. When I was younger I took this for granted not realizing how blessed I am. My family is my support system and they ground me. I feel blessed that I have a small but close knit family and our bond has grown over the years. Though I dont get to see them as much as I would like to…we are working on this. I also have the best in-laws and I view them as my second set of parents. They have embraced me and love me for who I am. My family is incredible and I feel extremely blessed and lucky that I get to call them family. I hope they feel the same love from me as I feel from them. If your a family member and read this…I love you ❤

2. Husband

So technically, my husband falls under the family category, but the man deserves his own number! I don’t mean to be cheesy 🧀 but I’m gonna be. I feel like I am the luckiest women alive when it comes to my husband. He is my everything ♥ he has supported me through good times and bad times, he is my support, my rock and he keeps my butt in check. I don’t know what I did in this life to deserve him but Lord knows I needed him. I can’t imagine my life without him. Life has been an amazing journey with him.

3. Life

I am alive! If you are reading this then you are alive! This in itself is something to be grateful for!Your heart is pumping blood, your lungs are filling with oxygen all to nourish our bodies. Every day we wake up is a blessing.

4. My health

If you have good health this is something to be grateful for. Many people suffer from horrible diseases that end their lives. I have made it thirty-six years on this earth with good health. I am grateful for this.

5. Freedom

Every day I wake up I get to make a choice. While many days my routine does not feel like a choice…it is. I wake up and chose to go to my job, a job that I wanted. I have not been forced to do things I do not want to do. I can vote, I can drive a car, I can sit anywhere I want, I can say no or yes to someone or something, I can make my own choices. There are so many freedoms we take for granted.

6. Security

The definition of security means being free from danger or threat. I do feel this way about my life though I try not to take it for granted. I feel safe and secure in my life and I cherish that.

7. My education

I’ve come a long way to get were I am at today. I did not do my college education in a traditonal way. I started my medical career out as a medical assistant with the goal and dream of being a registered nurse. It was not until I was in my early thirties that I accomplished my goal. It is something I am very proud of.

8. My willingness to learn and grow

I never want to stop learning or growing. No matter what it is I am learning. I am always looking for ways to grow and improve my life. For example, I love doing yoga and recently felt a calling back to the practice. It has touched my soul. When I was practicing years ago I did not know that there was more to yoga than asana so I have been delving deep into the true meaning of yoga and how to apply the practice to my life.

9. My career

I go back and forth with my love for my career. Sometimes I enjoy it and other times I don’t…but that is more related to work. My career is I am a Registered Nurse and this being my career gives me many options. The options are what I love about my career. This career brings me job security, a stable income and opportunities to help others.

10. Yoga

The practice of yoga has been life changing. I started practicing in my twenties but stopped and have recently started again. Boy, have I been missing out. It is not a religion but for me it is such a spiritual practice. I am thankful for the practice, the studio I attend and the way yoga is changing my outlook on life.

Thanks for reading!
